A big well done, to Mike Wilson, Jack Sadler and Will Stewart, who joined over 30,000 cyclists who made it to the finishing line at the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 last weekend, raising money for YMCA East London’s work at Brooks Farm.
The three friends rode the 100 miles through the capital and into the Surrey countryside, completing the gruelling course with in an amazing time of 5 hours 30 minutes.
Jack’s comments on the day sum up the experience, ‘On the morning of the ride there was a mix of excitement and nerves, but we were keen to get going. Throughout the morning I feel like I went through multitude of emotions, from ecstasy to the complete failure of my legs twenty miles out. We attacked the ride and rode at a pace that was beyond what I thought was achievable, but the crowds along the ride and through the town centres rallied our efforts and we couldn’t help but push ourselves. Riding as hard as I could to pull myself across the line on The Mall, with the crowd drumming the boards is an experience I won’t soon forget, and one that I would recommend to anyone!’
Brooks Farm is an urban farm in the heart of East London. With its extensive range of animals, farm related activities and volunteer programme, it offers people the rare opportunity to experience semi-rural life in an extremely built up inner city area. Entry is free for visitors and we rely on donations to pay for the animals’ food and upkeep. For more information on Brooks farm visit http://www.ymcaeastlondon.org.uk/brooks-farm/
