YMCA East London (FYMCA) is looking for experienced volunteer mentors to join its in-house mentoring programme aimed at supporting residents as they come to the end of their stay at YMCA East London.
We are looking for mentors with bags of enthusiasm, a non-judgemental attitude and a willingness to support young vulnerable homeless people. Mentors must also be willing to travel to Walthamstow for one-to-one sessions with mentees. In return, mentors will gain valuable mentoring experience and benefits such as in-house training, on-going support and travel expenses will be reimbursed.
Senior Chaplain & Faith Support Manager, Richard Finch, said, “There are some residents who feel uncertain about coping with the complexities of living on their own. The mentoring programme aims to respond to some of their fears by providing ongoing guidance and support from individuals – mentors – with general life skills and experience.
“The guidance the mentoring programme will give our residents is crucial in building their confidence and we hope will inspire them as they journey to independence. This is a unique opportunity for experienced mentors from a range of backgrounds, to develop a wealth of new skills and gain valuable experience in the youth homelessness sector.”
The deadline for applications is 13th January 2015. If you are interested or require further information, please visit our job vacancies page.
