The steel structure of YMCA East London’s (FYMCA) new sports hall has been erected, marking a pivotal stage of the charity’s Forest Road fitness and leisure facility redevelopment programme.
Jessica Veit, Director of Estates, said, “Before the structure was up it was really hard to visualise things, but now we can see the building taking shape it finally feels as though we are a few steps closer to getting a brilliant new community sports and leisure facility. In the coming months the people will start to recognise various features of the centre – it’s all very exciting.”
FYMCA’s fitness and leisure facilities first opened to the public in 1969, and has served the community well for 45 years. The charity hopes that the new centre, with its two tier gym complete with cutting edge fitness equipment, sports hall, purpose built fitness studios and a community café, will prove just as popular and will be enjoyed by the community and FYMCA’s residents for many more years to come.
