Location: Walthamstow, East London

Type of Contract: Permanent, full-time

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours over 5 days per week

Shift Pattern: Alternate weeks – one week with shifts on Mon, Tues, Wed, Sat, Sun from 7am – 3pm; and the following week on a late shift from Mon to Friday 12pm‑8pm. Please note these shifts are non-negotiable.

Salary: £18,053.00 p.a.

We are looking for a Junior Chef to join our catering team in our community café. We have opened our new leisure facilities and in line with this exciting venture our relatively new community café will be available to the community along with their friends and family, as well as to local groups for hire. We are keen to ensure the community café presents a place where customers can enjoy their eating experience in a pleasurable environment.

About the job:

Reporting to the Catering Manager, you will be required to undertake duties include:

  • Assisting the Chef with the preparation and service of all meals and service
  • Overseeing the kitchen operations in the absence of the Chef
  • Checking all goods delivered for quality, quantity and correctness
  • Ensuring that health & safety of the kitchen is maintained at all times

About you:

You must hold a valid Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate and a recognised catering qualification (City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2). You should also have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Chef de Partie with experience in cash handling.

You need to be able to work under pressure with strong organisational and planning skills. Being a reliable and punctual team member is also essential.
