Barclays team gets their hands dirty for Brooks Farm

12th March 2015

On 12 March a team of 9 staff from Barclays Corporate Bank, based in Canary Wharf, came along to Brooks Farm to help build a Treehouse as well as completing additional maintenance activities.

A Team Spokesperson said:

‘It was really hard work, but great fun, and it gives you a great deal of satisfaction to see something through from start to finish. It was nice to work with colleagues as part of a team on something that is so different from what you do every day. I would definitely recommend it to other people. ‘

Alison Andrews, The Head of Family & Childcare, said:

‘The team worked incredibly hard and we are really pleased with the results. The Treehouse is proving popular with visitors as it enables them to get a bird’s eye view of the Farm and its animals.

As a charity, we rely on the support and help of Corporate Volunteers to undertake new developments and essential maintenance work on the Farm.  We are extremely grateful to the Barclays Community Investment Team who donated £500 to help towards the cost of materials for the Treehouse, as well as the Barclays Corporate Team who raised £178 through a cake sale at their offices (which was matched by Barclays). ‘

If you are a company looking to organise a Corporate Volunteering day for your staff we have a range of volunteering opportunities that your staff could undertake at Brooks Farm from one off projects, such as building a children’s eco area, to day to day task from mucking out the animals to planting vegetables to painting fences.
